Tour of Highland in Denver, Colorado

Updated: Mar 31, 2022

Introducing Highland in Denver, CO

Today we’re checking out the Highland neighborhood in Denver - one of my favorite, most walkable areas in all of Denver! Located just northwest of and overlooking downtown, it’s a happening area with great food, drinks, and some of the best views of the city.

Some people call it “The Highlands”. Technically it’s called Highland. I can’t wait to show you around!

Highland Vibes

Highland, aka the Highlands, this Denver neighborhood is home to some of the best restaurants, coffee shops, bars/breweries, and boutique shops in the city. Super walkable and bikeable with great views overlooking downtown Denver, Highland is great for young professionals or those just looking for easy access to downtown.

Even though it's got the hustle and bustle and social gathering spots, there are some great residential feel areas. Being one of the more sought after city-center neighborhoods with lofts and condos going up, Highland still offers a large stock of historic single family homes - now some of the closest historic single family construction to Denver’s original town site on the South Platte River (check out the Potter-Highland and Stonemans’ Row historic districts).

Home Price Statistics

Compared to the Median of Denver listings at $650k, Highland’s Median List Price comes in slightly higher at around $675k, with a Median Sale Price at about $683k. If you’re looking to get into a Single Family Home, they can range anywhere from $425k to $5.5 million. If a Condo or Townhome is more your vibe, expect to see prices range from about $345k to $2.3 million.

Pros + Cons

Pros:

  • Vibrant, up-and-coming neighborhood (well really, it’s... arrived)

  • Great outdoor spaces or parks and cool historic neighborhoods

  • Lots of great bars, breweries, restaurants, coffee shops, and locally-owned retail stores

  • Easy access to highways and downtown

Cons:

  • No big box conveniences (pro for some, con for others)

  • A bit more hustle and bustle (again a pro for some, con for others)

  • Parking is kind of a bummer (although it’s mostly free, it can be hard to find)

  • Bike and walk friendly, BUT it’s a lot of hills
